Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 11, 2026

Snug is built on a simple promise: it works entirely on your Mac, and it keeps nothing about you. This page says exactly what that means.

The short version: Snug collects no personal data, contains no analytics or telemetry, and requires no account. The only network request the app ever makes is fetching its own update feed.

What the app collects

Nothing. Snug does not gather usage data, diagnostics, crash reports, device identifiers, or any information about you or how you use your Mac. There is no analytics SDK in the app, and there never will be. Your menu bar layout, aliases, and settings are stored only on your own Mac, in plain files under ~/Library/Application Support/Snug/.

Network activity

The only outbound request Snug makes is to check for and download its own updates from updates.snug.menu. This request does not carry your identity or any usage information; it fetches a static file. Snug does not send a system profile with update checks.

Permissions

Purchases

When you buy Snug, payment is handled by our reseller, Paddle, who acts as the merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment and email address to deliver your license key and receipt, under Paddle's privacy policy. Snug validates your license offline on your Mac; the app itself does not receive or store your payment details. We may see order records (email, product, amount) through Paddle's seller dashboard to provide support.

Your license key

Your license key is checked on your own Mac using a public key embedded in the app. Snug does not contact a server to validate it, so using Snug never reveals when or how often you run it.

Children

Snug is a utility for macOS and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated date above will change with it. Because Snug collects nothing, changes here will almost always be clarifications rather than new data practices.
